Tarong Energy Ash Dam Upgrade

Embankment construction consisted of 400,000m3 weight zone on the downstream side to ensure that there was no further movement of the existing embankment.
The construction of the ash dam upgrade included additional excavation of the existing spill way area. A reinforced concrete sill wall was constructed on the entire width of the completed spill way. The stabilisation of the existing dam embankment included sand finger drains and a concrete weir structure for further measurement of water released from the ash dam. The entire site was top soiled and hydro mulched on completion.
